Pawnee's Parks
Leslie Knope on Pawnee Today.
Parks and Rec focuses on Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) as the Deputy Director of the fictional Pawnee City Department of Parks and Recreation. As ditzy and she is determined, her blind ambition and pathetic attempts to motivate her staff are all channeled into her passion for parks. Originally intended as a spin-off to The Office, the single-camera mockumentary style (think The Office, Modern Family), Parks has truly come into its own as one of the freshest comedies on television.
Season 1's shaky start elicited mixed reviews from critics: They said that Knope's social ineptitude overpowered her genuinely funny moments, while the rest of the jokes often fell flat. However, when Season 2 began, the much-deserved praise followed, and has continued thus far into Season 4. With new cast members Rob Lowe as Chris Traeger, City Manager, and Adam Scott as Ben Wyatt, Chris' Deputy City Manger, the show has both a strong comedic foundation and characters that its viewers can root for.
